Building a safer, more connected Cincinnati. Where every resident feels seen, heard, and protected.

We’re delivering on a bold vision for public safety. One rooted in equity, prevention, and trust. Our administration is committed to keeping every neighborhood safe by supporting first responders, investing in youth and mental health, and strengthening partnerships between police and the communities they serve.

Through data-driven strategies and deep community engagement, we’re reducing violence and building safer, stronger neighborhoods.

Building Trust and Safety

  • We expanded violence interruption programs, launched new investments in youth engagement and trauma-informed care, and prioritized 911 response reforms to ensure the right help is sent to every emergency.

We launched ACT For Cincy, a bold plan to reduce gun violence and support youth, families, and mental health services. It includes community-driven solutions and real targets, like reducing shootings by 10% and boosting access to behavioral health.

  • We’re modernizing emergency response by growing our co-responder teams—pairing mental health professionals with officers—and investing in training, technology, and staffing to support safe, smart, and just policing.

We expanded the ARC program, sending trained mental health professionals to nonviolent 911 calls—freeing up police and getting people the care they need. Over 1,300 incidents have been diverted to date.

  • We believe public safety must work with our communities, not just in them. That’s why we’ve launched neighborhood safety walks, increased transparency tools, and funded community-led solutions to violence prevention.

We created a new Street Crime Task Force, increased bike and foot patrols, and partnered with the state to expand public safety downtown. Meanwhile, we’re investing in a Regional Safety Complex to strengthen training and accountability for first responders.

ACT For Cincy

Launched in 2025, ACT For Cincy, Achieving Change Together, is our city's bold roadmap for reducing gun violence and reimagining public safety. Championed by Mayor Aftab Pureval, the plan was developed in partnership with community leaders, public health experts, and law enforcement, centered around one core belief: real safety starts with strong communities.

ACT For Cincy prioritizes prevention, not just punishment. It supports young people and families, expands access to mental health care, limits the spread of illegal firearms, and applies data-driven interventions in neighborhoods most impacted by violence.

With clear goals—like reducing gun-related incidents by up to 10% and reaching a 75% utilization rate for youth and family services—the plan is already driving change. And by working hand-in-hand with grassroots organizations like Brothas United and using tools like the SARA problem-solving model, we’re turning commitment into results.
